It is natural that people go through ups and downs in life, and perhaps most need psychotherapy to help resolve certain problems.

It is not possible to talk about illness without a consideration of the psychological and emotional issues nowadays. Psychology takes place in the health - it has an integrated point of view of mankind, considers its context and offers a biopsychosocial as well as  humanized and comprehensive care.

What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a treatment performed by a psychologist. It is seen as a valuable resource for dealing with problems of human existence, with all forms of suffering. The treatment can make some changes in person personality, as well as in their behavior.

The psychotherapeutic process is helping more individuals to find quality of social and affective life. The results are visible and propose the resolution of conflicts, fears and insecurities. The goal is to re-signification of thoughts and attitudes, which leads the patient to find ways to live more satisfying and incurs the improvement of their self-esteem.

The therapy is also suitable to individual self-knowledge. It is possible to review attitudes and behaviors and also to know and / or choose new paths, and thus restore the creative process and formation of life.


In which situations psychotherapy is indicated?

Psychotherapy works with people who are experiencing disturbances such as personal crises, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, sexual dysfunction, phobias, inadequacy in the life cycle phases, difficulties in interpersonal relationships, psychosomatic disorders, panic disorder, agoraphobia, marital conflicts and family crises, relationships, professional crises, etc…

How long psychotherapy does take?

The duration of a psychotherapy treatment varies with the intended objective. Nowadays you can get excellent results with treatments for short periods of time, called brief psychotherapy. The focus is specific objectives, with varying duration of 22 and 25 sessions. In cases of more severe psychological problems, the therapeutic work must be longer to promote deeper transformations. It can takes years.

Among many other questions, the psychologist is a professional that can see our problems from other perspectives, which will help you see life differently, to know yourself and see things from an angle that you have not seen nor suspected to be possible.
