Plastic Surgery Rhinoplasty

Plastic surgery nose rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a surgery that corrects alterations on nasal contours caused by congenital defects or traumas, and is intended to improve the appearance of the nose and/or to alleviate nasal blockage.

Rhinoplasty will reshape the nose, reducing or augmenting its size, correcting nostril alterations, correcting droopiness and/or shape of the tip, and exsiccate nasal dorsal excess. Incisions are generally made inside the nostrils, which is where reshaping of bones and nasal cartilages takes place.

Postoperative pain is well tolerated with the use of common painkillers. Rhinoplastymay improve your appearance and renew your self-confidence, but the desired result is to improve your appearance and your self-esteem, not to achieve perfection. A “new face” is not a guarantee of a new life or the elimination of one’s personal problems. Minor adjustments may be necessary.

The duration of the surgery is that of approximately 1 to 2 hours, being performed as an ambulatory procedure or with hospital admittance for the period of one day, under local or general anesthesia.

Some ecchymosis or edema may occur on the first 2 to 3 weeks after the surgery. Recommended post-op physical therapy sessions shorten the time period needed to obtain final results, which are achieved in a few months, lasting for many years.

Most patients return to their normal activities after 2 to 3 weeks, and may need to wear sunglasses and apply facial creams during this period.
