CRYSTAL AND RED APPLE PEELING – SUPERFICIAL PEELING
The peeling is a treatment that works with microdermabrasion. It promotes skin renewal, leaving it brighter. This treatment nourishes hydrates, protects and tones the skin using a concentrated extract of red apple. The extract also releases vitamin E, which has antioxidant and nourishing substances. The aluminum oxide, and salicylic acid and glycolic acids, stimulate cell renewal.
This treatment deeply hydrates the skin, removes dead skin cells, smoothes the wrinkles of expression, smooth skin tone, improves elasticity and tone skin, reduces the widening of the pores and acne scars and promotes a lifting effect.
Indicated to all types of skin, and can be done in any season of the year.
Quantity of applications: from 6 to 10, once or twice a week.
The procedure lasts 30/40 minutes.
Skin problems, like acne, hormone action, aging, wind, light and, eventually, genetic, cause changes in the aesthetic skin.
Wrinkles, furrows, sagging, roughness, and spots scars can change the appearance of the face and body skin. The peeling is a type of procedure able to correct changes caused by aging.
To explain better, the peeling removes the superficial layer of the skin, causing a regeneration and gives a new look for the action of cells that remain in some areas of the skin and reproductive capacity.
The general thought is that, if a lesion is deep, the body must reach this depth to be effective in curing the lesion. If the lesion is on the surface, peeling does not need to be so deep. The deeper the peeling, the more careful should be performed, and more care is needed in the post-procedure. So it is not the type of skin, but the depth at which the peeling is applied that determines the results and risks of treatment.
Questions and answers about chemical peeling
The skin is the largest organ of our body. There are millions of cells that protect us from the external environment and regulate our body temperature. With the passage of time, dark spots, fine lines and other signs of sun damages and aging aspects starts appearing.
What is a chemical peel?
It is the use of a solution applied to the skin to remove dead cells and promote the production of new ones. It compresses the skin, reduces the number of wrinkles and gives a younger aspect.
Every day, thousands of skin cells die, slough off and are replaced by new ones. With aging, this process becomes slower, it becomes harder for the skin to remove dark spots and correct the damage caused by the sun. The function of a chemical peel is to promote controlled etching of various layers of damaged cells.
What can a chemical peel do for my skin?
When an exfoliate agent is applied to the skin, the upper layers reborn, and after a few days, slough off. This procedure exposes a new layer, a smoother texture and more uniform color. Added to this, the exfoliation stimulates the growth of new cells, stretching the skin and reducing wrinkles.
How many applications do I need?
There are several types of exfoliate agents, and in varying concentrations, that can be used. Despite a body normally be sufficient to improve the appearance of your skin, problems are deeper than others. You may need more potent concentrations, or more than one peeling session to achieve better results.
Where this procedure is performed? It is a painful process?
The procedure is performed in our clinic and does not need hospitalization. Once the medication is applied, there is, from 5 to 7 minutes, a burning sensation, but it disappears without sedation or anesthesia.
How long should I be away from work and sports activities?
Most people need around 5 to 7 days to recover from medium depth peeling. During this time, there is no pain, but skin shows a severe sunburn aspect. For this reason, most patients remain at home. As the skin is sensitive to light for several weeks, is very important to be away from strong sunlight, use sunscreen and take other precautions.
What kind of skin better responds to peeling process?
The different types of peeling can benefit almost all skin types, but the following guide can help:
Type I - No wrinkles, typically in people with less than 35 years old, needs little makeup.
Type II - Wrinkles appear only when there is movement in the face (for example, smiling), typically between 25/35 years old person; precocious yellow and with signs of sun damage.
Type III - Wrinkles are visible even with the face is rested, especially around the eyes, mouth and forehead, aged 30/65 years, discoloration and appearance of small blood vessels.
Types IV - Severe aging, many deep wrinkles are visible.
Patients with skin type II or III are the most indicated to the superficial and medium peels.
Are the results definitive?
Yes and no, depending on patient’s activities after procedure. The regular use of sunscreen, not smoking, adequate hydration and, sometimes, the use of retinoic acid rather prolong the benefits of a chemical peel.
Types of peeling treatments
The type of peeling varies according to skin type, oleosity of skin, the expected results, the stage of aging, etc.
SUPERFICIAL PEELING USING GLYCOLIC ACID
Glycolic acid also allows superficial peels, medium and deep. However, it depends not only of the concentration, but the time of exposure to the peeling agent. Concentration of 30% to 50% makes a superficial peeling; concentration of 50% to 70%, an average, and above 70%, applied for a longer time, performs deep peeling. A good way of using glycolic acid peeling is perform a superficial application, twice a month.
TCA SUPERFICIAL PEELING - BLUE PEEL
TCA, trichloroacetic acid, allows performing superficial, medium and deep peeling. The concentration of 10%, performs a superficial peeling; concentration of 10% to 30%, a medium, and 35% to 50%, performs deep peeling. A variation of TCA peeling is the Blue Peel.
The peeling is a method used for treatment of skin disorders. The intention is to accelerate the cell renewal process from the deeper layers of the skin, while it eliminates the most superficial layers and aging. The skin is dynamic, alive, an organ in constant renewal. Every day, new cells are produced and others are eliminated. But over the years, the rate of cell renewal decreases. The process of aging and sunlight are wrinkles and spots appearing, as well as sagging and roughness of the skin.
One of peeling treatments problems, and that can lead to complications, is to determine the exact amount to be applied and thus the depth that will be affected by the chemical substance. Any mistake in this calculation can cause bad results.
That’s why scientists created a new technique for peeling, called Blue Peel. It is a peeling that uses trichloroacetic acid, and acts like the others types of peeling treatment. But the difference is that this acid is mixed with a blue substance, which is visible, that allows it to be seen with greater ease the depth of the drug action, avoiding complications. The blue of the Blue Peel, therefore, is just one of safety signs, which makes the method easier for the doctor and safer for the patient. Blue Peel is applied after cleansing the skin with conditioning facial. It is suitable for aging skin, for roughness, fine wrinkles and pigmentation (spots) and acne. The process is performed in doctor’s office, without anesthesia, and lasts about half an hour.
The ink is removed at the end of the process. Then, follows a process of shedding that lasts 7 to 10 days, when the results can already be observed. The method can also be used in other parts of the body, such as hands and arms.
Obviously, conventional methods of peeling with trichloroacetic acid or glycolic acid also produce good results, but the Blue Peel has had great acceptance in the U.S. and in Europe for being a handling and safety process.
MODIFIED PHENOL PEELING
The modified phenol peeling is a great revolution in aesthetics medicine. This powerful method is not new, but some changes have turned it into a absolutely current technique. Phenol peeling has been used since 1960. The new and actual formula was modified by the physician Dr. Kacowics. He “tamed” phenol, making it safer for the doctor who does the manipulation of the substance and to patients who receive it. In fact, it was developed only one type of treatment, but a series of it, each one to a different indication.
For that reason, is available very superficial, superficial, medium and deep facial and body peeling treatments. They are called Alkapeel, Neomaster, Neoplus, BodyPeel, Multipeel.
MANDELIC ACID PEELING
This technique uses mandelic acid for skin exfoliation. This acid is removed from the bitter almonds and is suitable for oilier skin and acne. Although it is also a superficial peel, mandelic acid causes slight burning and a some flaky. For the first three days, sun exposure is not recommended. After that period, the sun exposure is released, but is necessary precautions and care, such as regular use of sunscreen.
