The teeth missing is a factor, which besides making the buccal aesthetics worse, it also creates a disorder in the dental arch, causing a change of place of a tooth or more. This way the chewing process gets worse, making it harder for the remaining teeth, the facial muscles and the temporomandibular joint (TMJ)

The lack of dental elements compromises the facial aesthetics (the face gets like fading, the chin increases and the top of the nose falls down. And it can also change the speaking ability.Implants

Nowadays, the implants are one of the best options for people who lost one or more teeth. Actually, they are one of the biggest scientific evolutions, a definite safe solution, which, absolutely, gives back the aesthetics and the function of the natural tooth, eliminating the idea of mutilation that the lack of teeth brings us.
The implants are artificial roots that substitute the natural missing roots, put inside the bones of the mandible and maxilla by means of surgery. They function as a fixation for different kinds of dental prostheses (porcelain teeth and loose denture).

The implants are made of titanium, material of validated efficiency that does not offers organic reaction (biocompatible).
Nowadays, 94% of surgeries are successful.

Can any patient receive implants?
Practically every patient in good state (that does not present any illness) can receive dental implants. Some factors may influence for the success of treatment. As an example there is diabetes, which should be evaluated before hand.

Does it hurt to put an implant?
No, the oral surgery is simpler than a dental extraction, being used only local anesthesia. The patient might feel a slight discomfort after the surgery, taking only a common pain-killer (acetaminophen). The next day, the patient gets to do his normal activities, being counter indicated only physical activities.
